Center Georges Pompidou

 

           Renzo Piano's focus on art, technology and the combination of architectural buildings surrounding environment. His open design allows the Pompidou Center to utilize great use of the space for the gallery, but also give the people of Paris a much needed and loved public space, his architectural thinking is rigorous and lyrical, his innovation of the building’s design, of putting all the Structural and Mechanical systems on the outside, and use of the space of the building lot. Renzo was able to give Paris one of the greatest and most spacious art gallery and public space. His design broadly reflects the collision of a variety of techniques, materials, and various ways of thinking. A building that truly gives to the people of Paris and that will draw millions of visitors every year.

Historical Reference

 

          A historic building that was the first of its kind, was a building that kept heating and mechanical away from areas of the public use. This building would be the Baths of Caracalla, Built by the Roman Empower and tyrant Caracalla. This design allowed the bath complex to be completely open, and away from mechanical distractions. Much like Pompidou by Renzo Piano. Which uses the exact same concept of increasing space for an individuals on the inside. In the case of the Pompidou center all the Structural, and Mechanical systems are located on or close to the exterior allowing for a more open and spacious flow to the building allowing for better utilization.

Contemporary

 

     A Contemprary architect that utilizes the design of a building allowing for a spacious flow and feel would be Carlo Santambrogio and his "Glass Homes", the use of exterior walls allows for interior space to be utilized, while the class give the spacious effect and feeling, of being outdoors. This style allows an Individual to feel the open design of the building and the outdoors, it’s fair to say that Carlo Santambrogio and Renzo Piano, Share some similar approaches when it comes to Architecture.

 

A building that was the first of its kind, was Dom-ino house by Le Corbusier. A building that took away load bearing walls, and implemented the use of reinforced concrete columns to allow for a more open design and flow to the building. The Pompidou by Renzo Piano uses the exact same concept of increasing space for an individual on the inside. In the case of the Pompidou all the Structural, and Mechanical systems are located on or close to the exterior allowing for a more open and spacious flow to the building, also allowing it to be utilized better.
